Problem

When Mr. and Mrs. Aboayge reached out to Jacob West, it was more than a new project—it was a continuation of trust. Having admired the home we previously built for her brother in the same neighborhood, she wanted us to create something just as special for her own family. However, the land they owned presented a major challenge: it was located on a wetland, a waterlogged area that posed significant risks to the home’s long-term durability. Dampness threatened the foundation and could compromise the integrity of the entire structure. To make matters more difficult, the project began just before the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused unavoidable delays during construction.

Solution

To address the foundation risks, our team employed the fast flow foundation technique, a specialized method where beams are elevated above ground level. This ensured that the home would remain dry, stable, and protected for generations to come. Beyond solving the site challenge, we designed and built a modern four-bedroom home tailored to family living, with clean, functional spaces that reflected the client’s vision. Despite the setbacks brought on by the pandemic, we remained committed to delivering the project with the highest standards of engineering and design.

Result

By early 2021, the home was successfully completed, overcoming both the site’s challenges and the delays caused by COVID-19. Today, the Abaji family enjoys a beautiful, durable, and comfortable home that not only serves as their residence but also as a symbol of resilience and thoughtful design. The project reflects the strength of trust between the client and Jacob West, showcasing how innovation and engineering can come together to create lasting peace of mind.

She commissioned us to design and build a four-bedroom home, but the site came with a major challenge: it was located on wetland waterlogged area. This presented significant risks for long-term durability, especially with dampness threatening the foundation.
